The world Expo is organized by the government of one country and participants are mainly governments of various countries and international organizations. The world Expo is an arena to display the achievements in social, economic, cultural and technological sectors. It is also known as the “economic, technological and cultural Olympic Games” for its long-time open, its large scale, many exhibiting countries and far-reaching influence.
2010年中国上海世博会的场馆建设即将全面展开，规模庞大的场馆建设、辅助设施的建设以及周边地区的改造。这不仅是上海继浦东改革开放以来的又一次大建设，还将为建材、石材行业带来一次历史性的机遇，成为业内企业在未来几年最炙手可热的一次良好商机。 依托世博东风，上海石材以每年20%的速度递增。
The construction of the exhibition hall of Expo2010 in Shanghai will be in full swing, including large-scale construction of exhibition halls and its relative facilities; reconstruction of the surrounding area. It is not only another large construction in shanghai since the reform and opening up in Pudong but also a historic opportunity for stone industry. But here, we will pay more attention to the development of Shanghai stone industry after World Expo--To be stronger or to be weaker? We interviewed Huang Kai, Deputy Secretary-General of China Chamber of Commerce for Stone Industry to talk about it.
中国石材商报：2010年世博会将在上海举行，这是一个难得的契机，也因此推动了房地产企业、石材企业的大发展，因为场馆的建设包括世博会带来的市政建设的巨大投入，对于行业来说是一个利好的消息，您认为世博对上海石材行业意味着什么？
China Stone Business Newspaper: The 2010 World Expo will be held in Shanghai. It's a rare opportunity and promotes the great development of real estate and stone enterprises. That's because of the construction of the exhibition halls, including huge investment in municipal construction. It's good news for stone industry, what do you think the World Expo means for Shanghai stone industry?
黄凯：无论是2008年的奥运会，还是2010年的世博会，对于北京、上海这两座城市乃至整个全国上下方方面面都会产生巨大而深远的影响。政府投入巨大的市政建设将使城市升级改造，这将极大地促进与之息息相关的房地产、建筑等行业的发展，而城市经济也会借此良好契机实现一次全面的飞跃。
Mr. Huang: In fact, the 2008 Olympic Games and the 2010 World Expo have great effects on all aspects of Beijing, Shanghai and even all over China. The government invested in municipal construction to upgrade cities, which would greatly promotes the development of the real estate, construction and other related industries. So, urban economy will take this opportunity to achieve a comprehensive leap.
世博会对石材行业、房地产行业、建筑行业以及整个国民经济而言都是一个助推器。在世博会举办期间，经济会有一个非常规的发展，会有一个突变，会有一个爆发行情。房地产和石材行业是感同身受的，发展变化非常快，也许在的几年内将会有一个突飞猛进的发展。世博将会带动城市建设，将会推动城市建设投资。作为石材企业来讲，非常有幸能搭上奥运和世博的快车。
The World Expo is just like a roll booster for the real estate, stone and construction industries, even the entire National Economy, during which economy will develop rapidly, even to break and break-out. In fact, because of the World Expo, stone and the real estate industries has developed and changed a lot. Perhaps there will be a rapid development for them in a few years. The world Expo also will promote urban construction, for example, bringing mare investments. It is fortunate for stone industry to benefit from the Olympic Games and the World Expo.
中国石材商报：那么这块蛋糕到底有多大？世博将给上海石材行业带来多大的贡献？
China Stone Business Newspaper: China Stone Business Newspaper: How much contribution the World expo will make to China? And stone industry?
黄凯： 按照世博的规划，无论是道路、桥梁、广场、社区、景观，还是各种建筑，石材都是非用不可的，少了还不行。可以预测，世博工程将于2008至2009年形成装饰高峰，这也是石材使用高峰。据有关资料预测，世博工程相关投资将超过500亿，那么，石材用量将会在60—80亿左右。巨量的城市建设和世博配套工程建设支撑了上海石材业。
Mr. Huang: In accordance with the layout of the World Expo, stone is the necessary in building roads, bridges, squares, communities, sights, and various constructions. It can be predicted that projects of the World Expo will form decorative peak in 2008 and 2009, which is also the peak of stone. Relevant data predicts that the investment of its projects will be over 50 billion, of which stone will be around 6-8 billion. Huge urban construction and projects of the World Expo support Shanghai stone industry.
以2010世博会为契机，上海近几年以国际大都市的姿态加快城市建设步伐。第一是机场、轨道交通的建设。据悉，未来若干年，机场二期、虹桥机场建设、磁悬浮工程将有800亿工程投资；而未来三年建设中的轨道交通将有200个站点，这些均需要大量的石材运用；第二是星级酒店的建设，这更需要大量高档石材；第三，大量的高档商务写字楼建设。为了提高档次，写字楼纷纷模仿星级酒店大厅和室内装饰，大量使用高档石材，无论是石材面积或单价均有提升。第四，体育场馆、文化中心、医院等公共场所大量兴建，且石材运用比例越来越高。以上四块工程用石材占到整个上海石材业的80%，对上海石材业起到支撑和推动的作用。可以非常乐观地预计，过若干年上海石材应用还将有大的增长。
Seizing this opportunity of the World Expo 2010, Shanghai has sped up the pace of urban construction with the attitude of international metropolis in recent years. First is the construction of airport and railway. It's reported that 80 billion will be invested in airport phase Ⅱ projects, Hongqiao Airport and magnetic suspension projects in the next several years and 200 stations of the railway will be built in the following 3 years，which need a large number of stone. Second is the construction of star hotels, which still need a large number of high-grade stone. Third is the construction of high-grade commercial office buildings. In order to improve the grades, office buildings imitate the lobby and interior decoration of star hotels, using high-grade stone, which makes its quantity and price rise. Fourth is to build a large number of stadiums, cultural centers, hospitals and other public places, which need more stone. Stones of the four projects account for 80 percent of that in Shanghai stone industry, which has played the role of the support and promotion in Shanghai stone industry. It can be optimistic to expect that there will be a large growth in Shanghai stone application.
中国石材商报：对于上海来讲，2010年的世博会肯定是一个很好的机遇，问题是怎么来平滑？也就是怎样让世博会给上海石材业、上海经济带来新一轮的增长，在时间上实现可持续的长足发展？
China Stone Business Newspaper: The World Expo 2010 is certainly a very good opportunity for Shanghai. But how to make Shanghai World Expo bring a new round of growth in Shanghai stone industry and economy? And how to achieve the sustainable development?
黄凯：从时间上来讲，上海可持续增长至少还可以延续25年到30年。我们要看得更远，到2030年上海可能才能进入到人均GDP1.8万—2万美金这种稳态社会。这也就是说，上海的经济起飞和高速增长的阶段至少还可以延续25年到30年左右。而上海石材业要保持持续发展，就须让整个长江三角洲都保持持续发展。
Mr. Huang: Shanghai sustainable growth can be extended at least 25 to 30 years, but we need look further. Per capita GDP will be 18 thousand -20 thousand dollars in 2030. That's to say, Shanghai's economic take-off and rapid growth can be extended at least 25 to 30 years, and only the sustained development in Yangtze River Delta can make Shanghai stone industry keep the sustainable development.
现代意义上的上海石材业经过15年的发展，在上海这座海纳百川的国际大都市的土壤里，经过引进国外、台湾地区等的资本和技术，国内石材业在上海自身培育壮大，已经在加工能力、品牌、技术、人才上占据高地。近几年来，周边城市昆山、常熟、苏州、杭州等城市建设发展很快，石材运用迅猛。显然，上海石材企业在石材工程竞标中形成优势。除了长三角，上海不少企业已经北上天津、纵向重庆等城市建设高速发展的地区，因为那儿有更多市场、更多商机。因此，上海石材也同样需要尽可能地利用世博景气来带动腹地的石材行业发展，将长三角地区的经济逐渐融为一体，以上海为中心带动其它区域的共同繁荣，以期形成集聚效应。
After 15 years of the development, Shanghai stone industry has becoming stronger and stronger in the international metropolis --Shanghai by bringing the capital and technology from foreign countries, Taiwan and other regions. It has many advantages in the processing capacity, brand, technology and talent. With the rapid development in the neighboring cities, such as Kunshan, Changshu, Suzhou and Hangzhou, huge stones are used in recent years. Clearly, Shanghai Stone enterprises have formed the advantage in bidding of stone projects. In addition to the Yangtze River Delta, many enterprises in Shanghai have developed their markets in Tianjin, Chongqing and other cities with high-speed development in urban construction. That's because there are more markets and more business opportunities. Therefore, Shanghai Stone industry also needs to make the best use of the opportunity of the World Expo to stimulate the development of the stone industry of its hinterland. Integrating the Yangtze River Delta region's economy with Shanghai as the center, promotes the common prosperity of other regions, forming the agglomeration effect.
房地产、建筑企业和石材企业可以说是一个产业链，绝对是相互影响的。同时也希望政府主管部门、行业组织能够更合理地布局、规划，包括对石材企业的要求，促进石材行业的健康发展。
Real estate, construction and stone enterprises are an industrial chain, which are absolutely interactional. At the same time we hope that the authority departments of the government and industry organizations can supply a more rational layout and planning, including the requirements of stone industry, to promote the healthy development of stone industry.
中国石材商报：世博会对上海石材行业乃至全国石材业的发展促进作用是显而易见的，但是我们现在对将来有个担忧，那就是后世博时代，它将何去何从？世博会结束后，给石材行业留下的将会是什么？是调头向下，还是继续向上？
China Stone Business Newspaper: It's obvious that the World Expo plays an role of promotion in the development of Shanghai stone industry and even China's. But we are worried about the development of stone industry after the World Expo. How about stone industry after the World Expo? Down or up?
黄凯：世博对于我们的行业来说也是一个深层次的转换。世博和奥运如同举办一场婚礼，在婚礼之前要有很多的投入在里面，结婚之后呢，日子还是要过的，而且要过得比结婚前更好，这样的话，结婚之前就要考虑是不是结了婚就不过了。同样的，奥运后经济和世博会经济也可以理解为结婚后经济，可能在婚前这个经济和婚礼之后的经济上还有一个更平缓的发展，而不是突然的一个反差，就是进入一个常态的管理过渡。
Mr. Huang: The World Expo is a deep-seated transform for stone industry. The Olympic Games and the World Expo are just like a wedding. We will cost much before wedding, but after wedding, we will still live and live a better life. If so, what we consider before wedding is not to no long live after wedding. Similarly, the economy after the Olympic Games and the World Expo also can be understood as the economy after wedding. Perhaps there is a more gentle development not a sudden contrast in the economy before and after wedding. In fact it's just the transition in entering the normal management.
作为石材行业在世博之前肯定是受益于世博和奥运的，但我们在此之前就要考虑到10年、20年更长远的发展。我认为，世博对石材行业的以后多少会有一点影响。可能世博以后行业的整合洗牌会更明显。我们的石材行业要借这个机会打造品牌，整合管理，多推新品精品，提高附加值，把自己的实力做强，把品牌做大。要保持一种相对超前的意识，不是说我们把这个工程接下来了，把产品卖出去就好了，我们要造经典工程，要做足整套服务，并且要不断地做，不断地更新，要把我们的附加值提高得更快，提高产品的科技含量、文化内涵。我们要呼吁石材企业都来关注后世博时代，而不是一阵风，只顾眼前，应更关注我们的环境，关注我们的未来，以期实现更科学的发展，更和谐的发展。
Stone industry surely benefits from the World Expo and the Olympic Games before the World Expo 2010, but we must consider 10-year, 20-year or even more long-term development before. I think the World Expo will have few negative effect on the future of stone industry．Perhaps the integration of stone industry will be obvious. Our stone industry should make use of this opportunity to build brands, strengthen integration, develop more new and perfect products and increase added-value to strengthen our strength and build remarkable brands. We should keep a relatively advanced sense. It's not enough for us to undertake the project and products were sold. We should build classic works, finish a complete set of services and keep on innovating to increase the added value and improve technological contents and cultural connotations of our products. We should call on stone enterprises to concern pay attention to the times after the World Expo. We can't just take notice of the current benefit, and we should pay more attention to our environment and our future in hopes of achieve more scientific and harmonious development.
